Drone maps of Europe
An airspace has different areas. When flying a drone, you must first check whether you are allowed to fly there. You can check this by using a drone map. The drone map shows geographical areas for each location.
In this blog, you will find online drone maps of all EU countries.
Where can you fly a drone in Europe?
Whether you are allowed to fly a drone depends on the airspace. Always check which airspace you will be flying in. There are interactive drone maps, which show what type of airspace you will be flying in. The different types of airspace are represented by colours. Please note that colours usually have different meanings per country!
The table below shows the different colours and meanings for the Netherlands. In a drone map, click on an area to get more explanations about the respective airspace and any restrictions.

* Here you are allowed to fly drones in subcategories A1 and A2, max 30 metres AGL
In addition to European laws and regulations, national laws and regulations also apply, which can cause differences in what is allowed in each country.
Do I need an EU Drone Licence to fly in he European airspace?
To fly a drone in the EU, from 250 grams, you need a certificate. There are different certificates. Which certificate is required depends on the weight and the areas you want to fly in.
If you fly outside built-up areas in uncontrolled airspace, the A1-A3 certificate will suffice. Do you want to fly above buildings with a drone between 500 grams and 2 kilos (or with C2 label)? Then you also need to obtain the A2 certificate. For the specific category, there is still the EASA STS theory certificate.
All these certificates are valid throughout the EU. Use our selection guide to find out which certificate you need for your drone (based on weight).
