Even in autumn 2023, DJI continues to release new devices almost tirelessly. This time it is the turn of a new member of the Mini Series: the DJI Mini 4 Pro.

Successor to the DJI Mini 3 Pro

It has been less than a year since the DJI Mini 3 came out and just over a year since the DJI Mini 3 Pro was announced. With the Mini 4 Pro, DJI offers yet another device in the segment for the lightest devices. Once again, a fine drone for the starting pilot!

Small improvements

It is mainly small improvements that DJI uses to entice drone enthusiasts to buy the DJI Mini 4 Pro. The higher frame rate in video and improved obstacle detection will most certainly also appeal to the semi-professional flyer. The range of the device has been improved, although this always depends on weather conditions and obstacles in the flying area.

Waypoint function

What also makes the DJI Mini 4 Pro interesting is the Waypoint Flight support. You can have the drone perform a predetermined flight path. This smart feature allows you to define points of interest along the route, instructing the drone on where to focus while capturing footage. You can set camera movement, altitude, speed, direction, tilt, zoom level and dwell time for each waypoint.

Interesting entry for novice drone pilots

DJI Mini 4 Pro

The DJI Mini 4 Pro is definitely suitable for novice drone pilots. Compared to other devices, the drone is still reasonably priced and easy to take on trips. Compared to the Mini 3 (Pro), the obstacle detection is available in all directions.

EU Drone License

The DJI Mini 4 Pro weighs less than 250 grams. It is not mandatory to get an EU Drone Licence (A1-A3 certificate and A2 certificate) as a pilot. We do find that some Mini owners still like to know a bit about drone rules before they start flying. Even if you later switch to a heavier aircraft, it's an idea to get the A1-A3 certificate in advance anyway.
