New release: DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral
For crop analysis, DJI has now also released a dedicated drone in the Mavic 3 Enterprise range, the Mavic 3 Multispectral.
Drone with multispectral camera
Drones have been a fairly well known tool in precision agriculture for a few years now for early detection of problems in the crop. This can be done - roughly - fairly inaccurately with an RGB camera and much more accurately with a multispectral camera, which sees NIR (near-infrared). Green crop reflects light. The more NIR is reflected back, the healthier the leaf is.
Mavic 3 Multispectral
On board, you find two cameras:
- An RGB camera with a 4/3-inch CMOS and 20MP image sensor
- A multispectral camera with four lenses, each capturing 5 million pixels in four frequency bands: Green, Red, Red Edge (RE) and Near-infrared (NIR)
Handy about the RGB camera is that, like the Mavic 3 Enterprise version, it has a mechanical shutter. The maximum shutter speed is 1/2000. It is possible to shoot continuously with the shortest possible interval being 0.7 seconds. Thanks to this speed, it is possible to gather image information quickly, significantly improving the efficiency of operations in the field.
Extension with RTK module
For precise positioning, you can add an additional RTK module to the device, which provides highly accurate aerial measurements. For farms with a lot of farmland, this is a must.
Maximum flight time
Whereas the Mavic 3 Series as a whole excels in quite a few flight minutes, the Mavic 3 Multispectral is certainly no exception. The battery gets up to 43 minutes, allowing you to inspect an area of up to two square kilometres.
Integration with cloud platforms
Through DJI Cloud API, users can connect directly to an external cloud platform to collect information, live video, photo data and other information. The device also supports Mobile SDK 5 (MSDK5), allowing users to easily develop exclusive control apps for scenarios such as intelligent monitoring.
EU Drone Licence
Fancy getting started with the DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral? Then you will need the A1-A3 basic certificate. This will allow you to operate outside no-fly zones and built-up areas.
